Wooden Bar Snapped

I had the hammock for only a month before it broke. The wooden bar snapped in half about 30 seconds after sitting on it one evening. I weigh 150 lbs. Luckily I had it set up close to the ground so I didn’t break anything. Am ordering another one hoping it was an isolated incident with a defect in the wood. Am a small nervous though.

This is fantastic for more than one person. It is huge and comfortable. It seems to be quality construction. I hung it between two pine trees with climbing straps and carabiners, which makes it simple to take down for when we water or for approaching storms–I wouldn’t leave it up to get wet or be blown around.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas. We set it up straight away as we live in Florida and the weather permits
We both lay on it comfortably, it’s HUGE! It’s nearly as huge as our bed!
Very comfy, simple to set up and take down in a matter of a few seconds,really. Looks nice, and tons o fun!
For the price, you really can’t beat it.
Ropes are fraying and snapping after one month of use!

This product looked fantastic, and had wonderful reviews. We were excited to receive it and set it up. It’s very comfortable. But, we’ve used it for about one month, and yesterday my daughter noticed that a rope had snapped. At first I thought it had come undone, but then I looked more closely and realized that not only had it snapped, nearly all of the ropes were chafing on the spreader bar and many had worn more than halfway through already. With only small children on it, another rope has had one of its three strands snap. So basically this is unusable after only one month. We never had anyone heavier than 150 pounds use it, and together with children, no more than 220 pounds total on it at one time. So much for 400 pounds!
EDITED: Although Amazon never got back to me about returning this, the company Texsport was very willing to work with me and is sending me a new hammock. 5 stars for Texsport customer service!
