It'd be good for taking camping as long as you are rather slender. This is not so much a hammock as a tall cot. A rather narrow one at that. I think I'll keep the stand but add a more sturdy feeling hammock to it and thus get closer to what I wanted. for an easy assembly stand the price is great. If you were dreaming of a soft place to snuggle down and read or nap for hours perhaps not so much. not quite what I’d hoped for
